Transforming health care together: The 2015 Optum Forum starts today

Addressing the health care system’s most pressing challenges is the focus of the third annual Optum Forum, which begins today at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, on the banks of the Potomac River across from Washington, D.C.

This innovative event merges two conferences, the Optum Executive Forum and the Optum Client Forum, into an enhanced collaborative and networking experience. Offering general sessions, solution breakout tracks and supplemental training, Optum Forum is tailored to meet the needs of executives managing health care organizations across the industry, and the experts who work within these organizations to innovate and implement change.

Advancing the mission of a healthier system

We are excited to have Marilyn Tavenner, former administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and current CEO of America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), open this afternoon’s Executive Forum. Executives from across the health care industry, including health plans, providers, employers, life sciences and government organizations, will attend educational sessions led by industry thought leaders, with insights on improving the experience of care, enhancing population health and reducing the cost of care.

Optum Forum continues tomorrow with Optum solutions clients from health plans and provider organizations also arriving to learn how together, we can advance the mission of a healthier system. Continuing through Friday, the Client Forum offers targeted breakout tracks led by Optum solution experts, and client presentations highlighting best practices of applying Optum solutions to business challenges. It is our intent that attendees will leave Optum Forum with a better understanding of how to maximize their technology investments and elevate their organizational performance.

Tomorrow’s general sessions will be highlighted by not one, but two incredible keynote addresses. We are honored to welcome General Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.), retired U.S. Army Four-Star General, Secretary of State (2001-2005) and best-selling author, and Atul Gawande, MD, MPH, a best-selling author, surgeon and Harvard professor.

The Optum Forum Discovery Center offers attendees the opportunity to network with Optum solution experts and partners, and learn how Optum is leveraging data, technology, expertise and action to power modern health care to create healthier world.
